Colorado Conservatoin Voters Fall Luncheon with Governor Ritter

Colorado Governor Ritter at the Colorado Conservation Voters Luncheon

WOW! What a Success!!

On September 18th, environmental, business, labor and political leaders gathered together for the 7th Annual Colorado Conservation Voters Fall Luncheon.  The event was a huge success!!  Governor Ritter’s vision for Colorado’s New Energy Economy and his passion for protecting Colorado’s natural resources were inspiring.  It was remarkable to see a crowd of just under 300 people celebrating conservation leaders and the landmark environmental policies passed in 2007.  Click to watch the video of the Governor's speech!

As successful as the Luncheon was, we're not finished yet!  CCV Board Chair Andrew Currie and other generous conservationists issued a challenge at the Luncheon and will match any new donations through the end of the monthGive today by clicking here and your contribution will be automatically DOUBLED!  This is a HUGE opportunity for us to ensure conservation values are supported in the State of Colorado!

CCV is proud of its role in supporting conservation-minded candidates.  We work to make sure elected leaders are listening by educating voters about candidates and holding elected officials accountable for their environmental records.  In 2006, CCV endorsed fifty-one candidates for office.  Forty-eight of them won, strengthening conservation majorities in the state House and Senate, and electing a governor who pledged to be a "stubborn steward for our environment."

As a result of strong elected leadership on the environment and the partnerships with people who in the past were more likely to be enemies than allies, landmark policy passed this year with broad, bi-partisan support.  We doubled Colorado's renewable energy standard and brought balance to the Oil and Gas Commission.

We are also reminded that our work is not done.  Global Warming is a huge challenge.  But, overcoming this challenge will make our economy stronger and our lives better!  In Colorado we have come further, faster than any other state when it comes to renewable energy.  This year we put policies in place to save energy and money by investing in efficiency.  Colorado Conservation Voters’ role in all this is to make sure political leadership in Colorado will embrace these opportunities and commit to protecting what we all love about Colorado

Thank you for your past support!  I hope that you will continue to support the work of CCV by contributing today and doubling your gift through the Luncheon Challenge

Sincerely,

Carrie Doyle

Executive Director
