MEDIA ALERT for Thursday January 17th, 11 a.m.
Hundreds of Marylanders to Rally in Annapolis for Global Warming Solutions

WHAT: Hundreds of Marylanders will gather in Annapolis to support the “Global Warming Solutions Act,” which would put Maryland on track to reduce its global warming pollution at least 25% by 2020 and 90% by 2050 (baseline 2006). In December, the Maryland Commission on Climate Change voted to recommend this strong cap on global warming pollution to the O’Malley Administration. At the event, legislators will be invited to “walk the green carpet” and pledge to co-sponsor the Global Warming Solutions Act, which will be considered during the 2008 General Assembly session.

WHEN: 11 a.m., Thursday, January 17th, 2008

WHERE: Lawyers Mall, in front of the State House, Annapolis, Maryland.

WHO: Senator Paul Pinsky, Delegate Kumar Barve, and other legislators. Governor O’Malley has been invited. Hundreds of citizens from across Maryland are expected to attend, and speakers will include representatives from faith-based, health, science, environmental, business, and student organizations. The event is sponsored by Alliance for Global Warming Solutions, a coalition of organizations working to climate change in the state. For more information visit www.alliancemd.org.
