Political Director, Washington Conservation Voters
Washington Conservation Voters (WCV), the political voice for the environment, is seeking a
dynamic Political Director to lead our statewide campaign efforts. The Political Director is a key
member of the WCV leadership team who is expected to develop and implement the
organization’s electoral, nonpartisan, and grassroots outreach programs.
WCV is a vibrant, growing organization with a strong reputation for electing environmentally
responsible candidates to office over our 30-year history. Working with our allies in the
community, we advocate for strong environmental policies and hold our elected officials
accountable. Through our political work we strengthen laws that safeguard the health of our
communities, the beauty of our state, and our economic future.
This position reports to the Executive Director.
Specific Responsibilities
• Create and oversee implementation of WCV’s political strategy and political program
budget.
• Collaborate with Executive Director managing political staff.
• Work in partnership with Washington Environmental Council staff to design and
implement 501(c)(3) nonpartisan voter education programs.
• Collaborate on communications, messaging, and media.
• Build relationships with stakeholders including candidates, elected officials, community
groups, WCV Board members, and donors.
• Coordinate with WCV’s State Lobbyist on legislative programs.
• Ensure the success of our grassroots outreach and chapter programs.
Skills and Experience
Required
• Extensive experience and leadership developing and implementing successful grassroots
advocacy or electoral campaigns, including experience working on candidate campaigns
or with political organizations.
• Hands-on experience with 501(c)(3) nonpartisan campaign strategies, tactics, and legal
restrictions.
• In-depth knowledge and insights regarding Washington environmental politics
(statewide, legislative, and local).
• Demonstrated ability for strategic planning, political communications, and working with
coalitions.
• Commitment to environmental protection and a bipartisan political strategy.
Desirable
• Experience working for PAC/ 501(c)(4)/ 501(c)(3) organizations.
• Demonstrated personnel management skills and budget experience.
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend work and
travel to meetings throughout the state.

Salary for this position will be based on experience. Benefits include medical/dental,
