The Tennessee Conservation Voters (TCV) is a statewide, non-partisan, non-profit organization that works to make environmental protection a top priority with elected officials, decision-makers and the voters by evaluating incumbent performance, seeking passage, adoption, and implementation of key environmental policies, regulations and legislation. TCV is currently seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Executive Director to lead the organization, its associated political action committee, and its sister organization, TCV Education Fund, a non-partisan civic engagement organization
Job Description
The Executive Director will be responsible for leadership and direction as well as operations and day-to-day management of TCV and TCV Educational Fund (TCVEF). The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors as we seek to inform and educate decision-makers and the public on environmental issues, policies, and legislation on an on-going basis.
Responsibilities include:
TCV’s Executive Director must have strong fundraising, management and organization skills as well as a strong personal commitment to TCV’s mission.
- Raise the budget for TCV, TCV-EF and TCV-PAC;
- Work with staff and Board of Directors on implementing fundraising strategies;
- Work with the Board of Directors to achieve long-range-strategic plan goals;
- Oversee financial and administrative management of the organization;
- Hire and manage staff and/or consultants (as budget goals are achieved);
- Manage a robust political program to elect pro-conservation candidates;
- Maintain TCV website and email communications;
- Work with conservation organizations and interest groups to advance TCV’s public policy agenda, including a strategic legislative agenda; and
- Develop and implement programs to grow state-wide presence.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
TCV seeks an individual who has a strong fundraising ability and experience, and an interest in building a small organization into a mighty one.
- Fundraising experience (required);
- Superior leadership, organizational, staff management, and strategic thinking (required);
- Strong communications, media, public speaking skills (required);
- Relevant computer, office software, and database experience (i.e. Excel, QuickBooks, and web-based database programs) (required);
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines and be part of a team working toward a common goal (required);
- Experience working with boards and in non-profit management (preferred);
- Experience in managing growth and scaling up an organization (preferred); and
- Knowledge of Tennessee environmental issues and political landscape (preferred).
This is a salaried position based in Nashville, TN reporting to the TCV Board of Directors. TCV offers a salary commensurate with experience.
