Job Title: Executive Director Reports to: Boards of Directors Salary: Negotiable

 

The Nebraska League Conservation Voters (NLCV) is the political voice of the Nebraska conservation community. The NLCV seeks to make protection of Nebraska’s environment a top priority among candidates and public officials. NLCV’s Political Committee works to elect an environmental majority at the state and local level. NLCV’s sister organization, the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters Educational Fund, is dedicated to educating and mobilizing voters and raising the profile for conservation issues statewide.

 

The Executive Director is responsible for strategic leadership, direction and management of NLCV, its Political Committee and the NLCV Educational Fund, while working in close partnership with the Boards of Directors of each organization. The successful candidate will have strong fundraising, communication, and management skills. He or she will be entrepreneurial, politically savvy, and deeply committed to the protection of the environment

 

Responsibilities include: • Raise budget for NLCV and its associated political action committee and education fund; • Develop and implement programs to grow state-wide membership and presence; • Run robust political program to elect pro-conservation candidates; • Work with other conservation organizations and interest groups to advance NLCV’s public policy agenda, including a strategic legislative agenda; • Work with board of directors to achieve long-range strategic plan goals; • Hire and manage team of consultants and staff (as budget goals are achieved); • Oversee financial and administrative management of organization.

 

Applicants must have a strong personal commitment to NLCV’s mission. Proven fundraising and non-profit experience is required.

 

Experience and skills sought include: • Major donor fundraising experience (required) • Strong entrepreneurial and leadership skills (required) • Superior leadership, organizational, staff management, and strategic thinking (required) • Political experience, including legislative and campaign (preferred) • Experience working with boards and in non-profit management (preferred) • Strong communications, media, public speaking skills (preferred) • Knowledge of Nebraska environmental issues and Nebraska political landscape (preferred)

 

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the c(4) Board of Directors. NLCV seeks to fill this position by November 1, 2009.
