The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is turning environmental values into national priorities. To secure the environmental future of our planet, LCV’s mission is to advocate for sound environmental policies and to elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies.

The Press Secretary has the primary responsibility of providing information to the local, regional and national press, the country's major newspapers, major radio services, major news magazines, the wire services, and the major television networks. Additionally, this person serves as the primary press contact for local, regional, and specialty media, including bloggers and online reporters.

• Write and manage the distribution of news releases and educational materials

• Coordinates and implements our blogger and outside on-line press strategy

• Organize logistics of news events and coordinate advance for senior spokespersons

• Field inquiries from news organizations

• Occasionally serve as spokesperson for the organization

• Work with the senior staff and communications director to implement a communications program for the organization

• Other duties as assigned. Supervision: None Requirements:

Four years of experience in press and politics preferred. Knowledge of MSM and bloggers needed. Campaign experience preferred. Good interpersonal skills and experience dealing with news media are important qualifications. Commitment to environmental protection and speechwriting experience preferred.

College degree required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; computer skills, (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, the Internet and PowerPoint preferred); proven ability to handle multiple projects and work independently with limited supervision in a fast paced environment with great attention to detail.

Able to work occasionally overtime, including nights and weekends.
