National LCV- Major Gifts Program Associate (4.18.2011)

General Description:
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) works to turn environmental values into national priorities. To secure the environmental future of our planet, LCV’s mission is to advocate for sound environmental policies, to elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies and to provide the state LCVs with the resources and tools to accomplish and sustain their mission. The Major Gifts Program Associate works with the SVP of Development and members of the Major Gifts Team to implement high donor mail, online and personal solicitation program strategies and to support the Special Events program.
Responsibilities:
Mail Program and Environmental Majority Council
- Work with the SVP of Development to manage preparation, production and personalization of all high donor in-house mailings to $1,000+ contributors: develop mail schedules, help craft message, route copy, coordinate production, review mailing list pulls, and track and analyze results.
- Liaise with program staff to obtain up to date program materials and information to incorporate in high donor mail program.
- Maintain and update high donor mail binder, including associated expenses.
- Coordinate Environmental Majority Council benefit program and activities including coordination of quarterly high donor conference call briefings, production, and mailing of invitations to major donors, compiling RSVPs, development of agenda, and follow-up activities.
- Draft, format, and send high donor emails.
Personal Solicitation Program
- Update, maintain, and analyze high donor income projections and results: update spreadsheet of projections, determine changes to revenue allocation and projections, and prepare accurate weekly printout for high donor program meetings.
- Work with Director of Database Management and Development Operations to ensure accurate uploading and tracking of major donor revenue, mail results, and staff call assignments.
- Coordinate and manage pulls for weekly list review meetings.
- Route, edit, and mail high donor correspondence in coordination with Major Gift Officers.
- Conduct research on current and prospective donors and prepare donor briefings as needed.
- Work with Development Assistant to update donor briefing materials and coordinate production of donor packets for meetings.
- Prepare call sheets as necessary for President and Senior Staff.
- Assist the SVP of Development, and members of the Major Gift team with donor stewardship and solicitation strategies; make calls to donors and draft donor correspondence.
- Coordinate engagement of senior staff in high donor fundraising efforts, as needed.
- Answer inquiries from Environmental Majority Council donors and add information pertaining to inquiries to donor database.
- Work with Major Gifts and Special Events Manager to coordinate major donor receptions, house parties, and bundling events.
- Participate in weekly check-ins, Major Gift Team meetings, Development Division meetings, and other strategy meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Events
- Work with the Major Gifts and Special Events Manager to coordinate logistics for fundraising events, including event timelines, registration, tracking expenses and revenue, catering, etc.
- Coordinate communications for events, including host committee letters, invitations (both e-mail and hardcopy), RSVPs, reminders, special guest outreach, and post-event follow up.
- Work with the Major Gifts and Special Events Manager and the Director of Database Management and Development Operations to coordinate event mail pulls.
- Conduct event list segmentation, review and cleanup for all event mailings.
- Serve as point person for event invitees, hosts and vendors.
- Helps coordinate event seating process.
- Update special event acknowledgement language.
- Assist with the maintenance of the event web pages and online event donation forms.
Qualifications:
- Education: College degree required.
- Work experience: Two years fundraising, preferably major gift and/or special events related.
- Skills: Fundraising database experience preferred; Experience in using MS Word, Excel and database software required; Strong written and verbal communication skills required; Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce and sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences is required; Clear understanding of, and commitment to LCV's mission and goals.
