Job Description: Campaigns Project Manager
General Description:
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), which works to turn environmental values into national priorities, is hiring a campaigns project manager to provide support to the Campaigns Department. The campaigns project manager will provide essential assistance to the campaigns departments’ effort to hold members of Congress accountable for votes and actions on the environment and elect pro-environment candidates to Congress. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years experience working on an electoral campaign in a paid capacity.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Facilitate LCV endorsement process, which includes:
o serving as main point of contact with campaigns
o participating in candidate meetings
o managing candidate questionnaire process
o researching candidate information
o preparing decision memos for the endorsement process
o coordinating with state LCVs
· Coordinate activities related to LCV Action Fund political action committee, which includes:
o maintaining a list of fundraising events and coordinating attendance with campaigns
o maintaining and updating PAC budget
o working with finance department to ensure timely distribution of candidate contributions
· Stay up-to-date on political developments, which includes:
o communicating regularly with Campaigns Department and Political & Campaigns Committee on status of key races
o reading political and campaigns publications regularly
o attending candidate meet and greets, poll briefings and other related political events
· Assist Data & Targeting Department with projects, which includes:
o preparing targeted lists of voters for use in voter communication programs
o tracking data requests and usage
o managing in-house automated calling system
· Assist with research, tracking and writing related to LCV’s accountability projects.
· Perform research on political and environmental issues as assigned.
· Train and manage Campaigns Department interns.
· Assist political director and campaigns director with other projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Education: College degree preferred.
Work experience: Ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years experience on campaigns (in a paid capacity) or non-profit organization; experience working with team members to achieve programmatic goals; commitment to the cause of environmental politics; research experience a plus.
Skills: Proficient with word processing and spreadsheets (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Internet and electronic research techniques; good written and oral communications skills; demonstrated reliability; attention to details.
Capabilities: Solid judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork and community; ability to handle multiple tasks and work for several people; highly organized; able to function in a demanding and fast paced environment; and interest in politics and environmental issues desirable.
Conditions: Able to work extended hours to get the job done; commitment to being on staff at least through the 2010 elections; pay will be based on experience.
