Program Director

Missouri Votes Conservation (MVC) seeks a full-time Program Director to execute the main programs of MVC and its sister organization, the MVC Education Fund (MVCEF).

 

MVC, a 501c4 organization, works to build the political power of the conservation community by advancing environmental legislation and helping elect pro-environment candidates.  MVCEF is a 501c3 organization that educates Missouri citizens and legislators about environmental issues and activates citizens to work on behalf of the environment.  Among the main programs are the Statewide Environmental Summit, hosted by MVCEF annually, to convene Missouri’s conservation community and plan environmental policy priorities; and Conservation Lobby Day in Jefferson City, coordinated by MVC and partner organizations to empower citizens to speak with their elected officials about important conservation issues.

 

The Program Director will work with the Executive Director and Political Director to coordinate fundraising, legislative advocacy, political work and communications.  He or she will implement the main programs of MVC and MVCEF; support the organizations’ fundraising efforts and events; manage member and donor databases, lists and communications, including website and email advocacy; support grassroots outreach efforts; recruit and manage volunteers and interns; and perform administrative support.

 

Responsibilities:

  • In preparation for Summit and Lobby Day, work with Political Director and environmental coalition partners to develop annual environmental policy agenda  
  • Organize and execute all necessary logistics for key annual events
  • Work with Executive Director and board Development Committee to develop and carry out fundraising campaigns, including mail and online; plan and execute logistics for annual fundraising party in St. Louis and house parties throughout the state; write fundraising materials; manage donor correspondence; and support grant writing efforts.
  • Manage communications, including website, email blasts and advocacy alerts; produce outreach materials.
  • Maintain database of member information using relationship management software.
  • Coordinate office volunteers and interns, and support grassroots advocacy work (such as phone banks and canvasses).
  • Provide administrative support, including taking minutes at board meetings and occasional bookkeeping duties.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a college degree and demonstrated proficiency in public communications, event coordination and fundraising support.   He or she will be a self-starter who can work both independently and with a team.  Skills will include:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including advocacy and fundraising writing, and writing for e-mail alerts and website
  • Experience planning and executing events
  • Experience with non-profit fundraising
  • Familiarity with relationship management software and website management is helpful
  • Interest in public policy, politics and/or environmental issues is preferred

 

Position:

The Program Director is a full-time position based in St. Louis, MO.  Most duties will be performed during the standard workweek, but occasional night and weekend hours, and some travel, will be required.  The chosen candidate should be available to start immediately.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
