Executive Director Position
The Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) and the Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (Maryland LCVEF) is looking for a visionary and collaborative leader with demonstrated fundraising skills, both with major donors and foundations, experience in managing an organization and staff, and a recognized ability to build political power and strength. The successful candidate must also have proven strategic planning and program development experience.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors of both organizations and will have the responsibility to supervise, hire and fire all staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Raise and maintain a budget
· Manage a staff of seven or more, along with interns and a County Chapter
· Lead the organization in the development and implementation of all programs
· Legal monitoring of all operations
· Communicate organization’s mission, goals and positions to media and the public
· Organizational and political strategic planning
· Work in coalition with other environmental organizations
· Board management and development
· Lead the Board, staff and supporters with a common sense of vision and purpose
Experience Sought:
· Successful fundraising experience with major donors and foundations, including taking organizations to new levels of revenue--Required
· Significant understanding of staffing and budget needs for a 501c3 and 501c4--Required
· Experience managing a budget of at least $500,000 and staff of 4-6--Required
· Experience working with the media, developing message and public communications--Required
· Political and legislative campaign experience, including working at a senior level in a campaign or organization—Required
· Knowledge or experience working on environmental issues and commitment to political and legislative activism for the environment—Required
· Experience with successful strategic, long-range planning--Preferred
· Basic understanding of legal issues involving 501c3 and 501c4 organizations-Preferred
· Ability to function on a national level in the political/environmental arena-Desired
Maryland LCV and the Maryland LCVEF provide competitive compensation and benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include: Health and dental insurance, 401K plan, Flex Spending and four weeks of vacation.
Position Requirements: This is a full time position based in Annapolis. Evening and weekend hours are required to be successful.
