General Description:

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) works to turn environmental values into national priorities.  To secure the environmental future of our planet, LCV’s mission is to advocate for sound environmental policies and to elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. The League of Conservation Voters is seeking a Manager of Grassroots Fundraising and Online Advocacy for its Development Division.  The Manager of Grassroots Fundraising works under the direction of the Vice President for Membership and Marketing to conduct low donor (under $1,000) fundraising through various streams and coordinates the email advocacy program.

 

Supervision:   Membership Assistant

 

Summary:   The Manager of Grassroots Fundraising works under the direction of the Vice President for Membership and Marketing to conduct low donor (under $1,000) fundraising through various streams and coordinates the email advocacy program.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage all aspects of online fundraising campaigns including: list segmentation, e-mail builds, testing, reporting, and post-performance analysis.
  • Draft initial copy for online messages, edits copy, and routes materials through vetting process.
  • Provide online reporting and analysis of all campaigns.
  • Manage list-building and member recruitment campaigns including: coordination with online promotion partners, e-mail acquisition websites, offline petition drives, and the design of recruitment campaigns.
  • Build robust online actions, petitions, and other email communications as needed in our Constituent Relationship Management system, Convio.
  • Manage the online supporter database, including: supporter list uploads, unsubscribe requests, pulling supporters lists for field staff, and change of email notices.
  • Manage online calendar including message coordination with program and campaign staff.
  • Work with consultants to ensure that fundraising and e-mail recruitment efforts are integrated through all direct marketing and communication streams.
  • Coordinate with New Media Manager/Communications to ensure that email campaigns are reflected on the home page when appropriate.
  • Track metrics and reporting for emails, actions, and recruitment performance.
  • Maintain and coordinate the e-mail messaging calendar across campaigns and departments, in coordination with the Vice President of Membership and Marketing.
  • Coordinate and support all online fundraising and cultivation emails for HD programs
  • Provide online technical support and set-up for all Development Division programs.
  • Oversee donor inquiry/response processes as needed.
  • Supervise Development Assistant.

Qualifications:

 

·       Work experience: 5 + years of demonstrable success in online fundraising and advocacy.  Experience in a political context, preferable in a progressive or environmental organization.

·       Education:  College degree required.

·       Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; outstanding Excel experience; interpersonal skills; proven ability to handle multiple projects; meet deadlines; and work in a fast past environment with great attention to detail.

·       Capabilities: Initiative, energy, and judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork and community; highly organized; interest in environmental issues desirable.

·       Conditions:  Able to work occasional overtime as needed to fulfill mission.
