State Capacity Building Intern

Reports to: Director of Collaborative Fundraising (50%) and VP of State Capacity Building (50%)
General Description:
The State Capacity Building Intern works with the State Capacity Building Division (SCB) of the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) to implement the capacity building programs for states with specific emphasis on: assisting the Director of Collaborative Fundraising, data entry for Salesforce online database, maintaining and adding content to the SCB website, and assisting with administrative functions of the Seattle office.
Specific (Essential) Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Collaborative Fundraising:
Assist in donor research, and maintaining donor research files.
Track/manage donor lists for joint visits:
§ Conduct list pulls;
§ Develop call sheets;
§ Send introduction letters and thank you notes to donors;
§ Manage lists and contacts;
§ Input information from donor visits into database.
Help track results of fundraising efforts including:
§ Track numbers and results from donor visits;
§ Track revenue and upgrades for overall program and splits between states and national;
§ Track numbers from states’ use of email and mail lists.
Manage state and national list comparison project:
§ Manage database information related to joint donors;
§ Help gather information from states and national;
§ Format incoming lists for comparison purposes;
§ Conduct comparison analysis.
Support sharing of mail and email lists for fundraising:
§ Coordinate getting lists to states;
§ Track national donors that respond to state appeals;
§ Track overall results from list sharing and mailing to lists.
Donor re-solicitation and cultivation coordination:
§ Track contact with joint donors;
§ Manage lists for joint cultivation and re-solicit efforts;
§ Help develop timelines, re-solicitation and cultivation schedule.
Manage monthly development calls with states.
Send acknowledgment letters and file.
Assist with special event activities.
- Help administer the State Capacity Building Divisions website:
Update with new documents;
On a weekly basis, update news portlet;
Keep jobs portlet current with open positions in the states and national;
Assist with the maintenance of the SCB website;
Manage content and improvement of website by gathering input from states, staff and consultants;
Track the training offerings of other NGO’s that are open to our staff and partners, and post to website.
- Help administer federation and development listservs:
Keep membership current;
Send bi-monthly updates on available job postings to federation listserv;
Send monthly update about website to federation listserv.
- Assist with day to day administrative functions of Seattle office, such as opening mail, answering phones, filing and scheduling meetings.
- Keep current data in Salesforce database.
- Provide support to civic engagement program.
- Plan quarterly league movement calls.
- Assist with the processing of bills.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Education: High School Diploma required.
· Work Experience: Previous office experience preferred. Familiarity with word processing, databases and spreadsheets (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel) helpful.
· Skills: Good written and oral communications skills; excellent skills in word processing, spreadsheets (Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel required, PowerPoint preferred), and phone systems; strong database background preferred. Good with numbers, attentive to details, and adept at maintaining systems for easy access to information and data.
· Capabilities: Demonstrated relationship building skills; solid judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of movement and community; ability to handle multiple details and tasks; highly organized; commitment to environmental protection and mission of LCV. Good sense of humor a plus.
Hours and Compensation:
Duration: 6-12 months
Hours: 40 per week
$8.67 per hour
