Job Summary
The Education Program Director will be responsible for implementing and delineating further plans for the Transportation Program, for updating the Environmental Briefing Book and for facilitating the Annual Environmental Summit. The Education Program Director will report to the Executive Director and interact regularly with the Communications Director, Development Director, CTLCV Ed Fund board members and interns. This position requires a 35-hour workweek.

Key Responsibilities (Initial estimates of time per activity)
Transportation Program
15% Research, write and edit CT Transportation Guide
15% Arrange meetings, draft documents, and communicate with members of the transportation and environmental communities
15% Plan transportation summit
15% Develop networks and distribution lists and prepare correspondence that engages transportation activists.
10% Arrange meetings and communicate with state and federal legislators on transportation
  5% Work with Communications Director on communications and media

Environmental Briefing Book
10% Work with interns in updating book and communicating with environmental organizations.

Environmental Summit
10% Plan all aspects of the Summit held each December, including developing the theme, securing the facility and caterer, recruiting speakers and panelists, promoting attendance among public officials and advocates, collecting and organizing advocates’ legislative proposals, handling attendee registration before and during the event, and preparing all follow-up materials.

Board Meetings
5% Prepare agenda, attend meetings, and draft minutes.

Relevant Education & Training
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and professional contacts with and experience in the transportation sector. Additional experience with environmental groups would be desirable.

The candidate must have excellent written & verbal communication skills, proven acumen in building networks and maintaining interpersonal relationships. The person must be a self-starter, and have the ability to work independently.
The individual must be fluent in the use of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint on a PC computer and also facile with social networking tools like Facebook, texting, and Twitter. The candidate must have strong Internet research skills.

Salary
The salary is negotiable based on the applicant’s experience and hours worked.

CTLCV Education Fund
The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (CTLCV Ed. Fund) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that raises awareness about Connecticut's environment. We educate citizens on key environmental issues, involve them in building sound environmental policies, and organize networks of conservation-minded leaders likely to influence decision-making in state or local government. Transportation Program
Its goal is to develop public support for a balanced and sustainable transportation system, given the sector’s impact on Connecticut’s environment, climate change, economy, land use, and health. CTLCVEF will work with environmental and transportation groups on a number of transportation initiatives, engage new activists via the web, conduct summits of environmental leaders and legislators, and publish the Connecticut Transportation Guide.



Environmental Briefing Book
It covers a wide range of issues impacting Connecticut’s environment, such as energy, water, and wildlife, and is distributed to thousands of people across the state.

Annual Environmental Summit
It fosters dialogue between legislators and environmental group leaders on protecting the state’s natural resources.
