Colorado Conservation Voters turns conservation values into Colorado priorities by advocating for strong environmental policies, endorsing conservation-minded candidates, and holding elected officials accountable. The Board of Directors of CCV seeks a dynamic leader to serve as CCV’s Executive Director.
BACKGROUND
Since the organization’s founding in 1998, CCV has successfully built bipartisan conservation majorities in the Colorado Legislature and Governor’s Office by endorsing pro-environment
candidates in the most competitive races, working for passage of priority legislation, and holding elected officials accountable through the Conservation Scorecard. CCV is widely seen as one of the most effective political and advocacy organizations in the state and one of the strongest statebased organizations in the country.
JOB DESCRIPTION
A candidate for Executive Director will have strong fundraising, campaign, and organizational skills as well as a passion for protecting Colorado’s environment. Responsibilities include:
· Raise budget of $500,000 and upwards of $1 million in an election year for CCV and its associated political action committees and non-partisan civic engagement organization;
·Run robust political program to elect pro-conservation candidates;
· Work with other conservation leaders to develop and win strategic legislative agenda;
· Hire and manage staff and team of consultants;
· Work with board of directors to achieve long-range strategic plan goals;
· Oversee financial and administrative management of organization.
Applicants must have a strong personal commitment to CCV’s mission. Proven fundraising and campaign experience is required. Experience managing a non-profit organization is preferred.
Experience and skills sought include:
· Major donor fundraising experience required;
· Political experience, including in legislative and campaign settings, required;
· Superior leadership, organizational, staff management, strategic thinking and planning skills required;
· Strong communications, media, public speaking skills preferred;
· Knowledge of environmental issues and political landscape preferred;
· Existing network of contacts in political and environmental circles in Colorado desired.
This is a full-time salaried position in our downtown Denver office reporting to the Board of Directors.
